native-american-paintingIf you happen to be a lucky turducky and you are in Tucson, Arizona for Thanksgiving this year, you have a lot to look forward to.  Not only will the weather be perfectly sunny and in the 70s, but the Native American Indian Heritage Month Social and Indian Craft Market is in town again!  Starting Friday, November 25 from noon to dusk, Saturday, November 26 from noon to dusk, and Sunday, November 27th from noon to 5pm, you can find the Market at the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom: 5151 E Grant Rd, 85712.  Admission and parking are free, but scholarship donations are appreciated.

This is a rich event that showcases the heritage of art, dance, song, and traditional foods belonging to 15 tribal nations.  It is a family-friendly gathering with activities for children.  In previous years artists included Tohono O’odham basket weaving, a Hopi Kachina doll maker, and a turquoise collection.  This year award-winning hoop dancer Cecil Manuel (Tohono O’odham/Apache nations) is the featured cultural presentation.
